PEC is a Srinagar based non-profit organization registered as a Trust. PEC’s core objective is to contribute to human wellbeing with a focus on environmental issues that require attention of environmentalists, policy makers, and people at large. Our organization aims to identify environmental challenges in the local and regional context; enhance environmental and sustainability awareness, and enable evidence-based policy reform and action on current and emerging environmental conservation and sustainability challenges of Jammu and Kashmir.
At a time when climate change poses a huge threat to people and public resources alike, PEC believes that climate crisis needs to be addressed collectively and in an impactful manner. Climate smart solutions and adaptive measures need to be anchored in local socioecological reality while firmly aligned with global formal and informal efforts and initiatives. Consequently, PEC is committed to be an enabler for conserving land, forest, and water bodies and resources in Jammu and Kashmir. And foster working partnerships across Himalayas for a healthy environment for healthy societies.
